How to Measure Your Standing Reach

Correct Measurement Technique

  1. Stand flat-footed against a wall with your heels touching the wall
  2. Keep your arms at your sides in a relaxed position
  3. Reach up as high as possible with both hands
  4. Mark the wall at the highest point your fingertips can reach
  5. Measure from the floor to that mark

Tips for Accuracy

  • Don't wear shoes - measure in socks or barefoot
  • Keep your feet flat on the ground
  • Don't bounce or jump while measuring
  • Measure 2-3 times and take the average
  • Have someone help you mark the highest point

Basketball Dunk Styles

Standard Dunk

The classic dunk where you jump and slam the ball through the rim with one or both hands. Requires about 6 inches of clearance above the rim.
